Scripture: 1 Samuel 8:19,20

1 Samuel 8:19,20 states, “Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, ‘No, but we will have a king over us, that we also may be like all the nations, and that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles.’” The two distinct ministries of a king in Scripture are to judge right from wrong and to fight the battles necessary to uphold right and overcome evil. Kings had that assignment. When Jesus made us a King, that became part of our assignment. We have to uphold a standard of righteousness, we have to declare what is right and we have to bring the judicial Hand of God on what is wrong. A failure to move God’s Hand against what is wrong enables evil and forfeits a harvest.
