Scripture: Revelation 2:8-11

In Revelation 2:8-11, Jesus tells them very plainly He knows where they are. He experiences their poverty, the blasphemy of the counterfeit religious and He exhorts them, “Do not fear. You are going to have to suffer persecution and death, but walk through it and you will have the crown of life.” Jesus’ ministry to Smyrna is Priestly. But He still tells them everything they are going to have to face. He says martyrdom is in their future. Does that sound like the Gospel you and I hear on Sunday morning? Does that sound like the Gospel that is preached to us? Can we build a church in our current culture if we really preached the entirety of God’s Word? Or would it quickly turn into a very small group?
