SUNDAY, AUGUST 19
Scripture: 1 John 2:28-29

1 John 2:28-29 says, “And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming. If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him.” Verses 28,29 are our yardstick for whether we are dealing with truthful believers or casual deceivers. Those who practice righteousness are born of Him. Those who do not are not. Deceivers are those who say one thing but practice unrighteousness. Anytime we find a politician who is saying one thing but practicing unrighteousness, we know he is a liar and deceiver. We cannot trust him in any way, shape or form. Those who practice righteousness have a foundation and a platform for praying judicially and bringing the full measure of God’s justice. Those who do not, do not. Confidence only comes to those who practice righteousness and that confidence is going to be desperately needed in the last days.
