Scripture: Exodus 32:11

It is interesting to look at Moses’ intercession. His intercession was based on one concept. Verse 11 says, “Then Moses pleaded with the Lord his God, and said: ‘Lord, why does Your wrath burn hot against Your people whom You have brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand?’” Moses saw that he had one primary goal – to turn away the wrath of the Lord against the sin of His people. That brings us a question – is wrath an issue in the New Testament? Most of our church leaders today would tell us, “Wrath is not an issue. Jesus took God’s wrath on Himself. Therefore, we are not appointed to wrath but to salvation. So wrath is not an issue in the New Testament.” That sounds good and I wish it were true. Because it is prominent and very appealing theology today in many nations, it is the first thing we must look at. What is the truth about wrath against sin in the New Testament? Does God judge in the New Testament? Does God’s wrath kill in the New Testament? Revelation answers that question, but why are leaders like Rob Bell not reading it? The first outbreaks of wrath should be seen on pimps in pulpits!
