Scripture: Psalm 55:12-15

Psalm 55:12-15 is another example of David praying Judicially based on the covenant of Sure Mercy concerning the betrayal of his best friend, Ahithophel, who is the leading prophetic voice in Israel. One look at this passage makes it very clear what judicial prayer entails. Verses 12-15 says, “For it is not an enemy who reproaches me; Then I could bear it. Nor is it one who hates me who has exalted himself against me; Then I could hide from him. But it was you, a man my equal, My companion and my acquaintance. We took sweet counsel together, And walked to the house of God in the throng. Let death seize them; Let them go down alive into hell, For wickedness is in their dwellings and among them.” How does David pray over the enemy who is trying to take away his city and nation? He prays that God will permanently remove them. And in a few short weeks, God did. This is what judicial prayer looks like. There are three steps to victory. First, under the unction of the Holy Spirit is to identify the people who qualify and have set themselves against the Lord and against His anointed and are attempting to steal our harvest field. Second, ask for a Scripture of what judicial action fits the offense. Third, we pray what the Spirit gives, releasing or termination! It is sad that tradition has played such a prominent role in causing the church to extend the life of the wicked and shorten the life of the righteous. That needs to change, and it needs to change now!
