Scripture: Genesis 12:14-16

The very first person to adversely touch Abraham was Pharaoh. Genesis 12:14-16 states, “So it was, when Abram came into Egypt, that the Egyptians saw the woman, that she was very beautiful. The princes of Pharaoh also saw her and commended her to Pharaoh. And the woman was taken to Pharaoh’s house. He treated Abram well for her sake. He had sheep, oxen, male donkeys, male and female servants, female donkeys, and camels.” Pharaoh took Sarai into his palace as his wife. Although he was nice to Abram for Sarai’s sake, he violated God’s covenant of marriage and that sin brought God’s Hand into action. Here we have mixed-seed action in the life of Pharaoh. Pharaoh violated Abram’s marriage covenant by bringing Sarai into his palace, but he treated Abram well by giving him oxen, donkeys, camels and female servants. So here we see half good and half bad – but the bad, in God’s eyes, pollutes the good. When we have both blessing and curse, which one prevails? God was certainly not silent about this issue. Mixed-seed brings judgment!
