Scripture: II Samuel 7:15-17

II Samuel 7:15-17 is the essence of the covenant of Sure Mercy. It says, “But My mercy shall not depart from him as I took it from Saul whom I removed from before you. And your house and your kingdom shall be established before you. Your throne shall be established forever.’ According to all these words and according to this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.” The covenant of Sure Mercy says that if you and I have a failure we will not lose our office, our call and the anointing to walk in that office like Saul did. This covenant has two elements in it. It has a Priestly side and it has a Kingly side. The Priestly side forgives failure and restores us so that we can function as a King. Have we taken and accepted the blood of Jesus as our forgiveness? That becomes the foundation for acting as a Judicial King. David is our example in failure. He repented when confronted, accepted God’s judgment, restored his relationship with the Lord and stood up to walk as a King. When Absalom rebelled aided by David’s best friend Ahithophel, David did not hesitate to pray death and destruction. Death and destruction came by praying covenant!
