Scripture: Genesis 18:16-19

Genesis 18:16-19 says concerning Abraham and the visitation of the angels, “Then the men rose from there and looked toward Sodom, and Abraham went with them to send them on the way. And the Lord said, ‘Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing, since Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the Lord, to do righteousness and justice, that the Lord may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him.’” The key reason God made a covenant with Abraham was twofold. First, He could trust Abraham that he would teach his children the importance of two issues in their lives and they would embrace those issues. The first issue was that of being righteous in how we live, act, work and think according to God’s Word. The second issue was that they would actually do judgment. God could trust Abraham to teach his children how to first, live righteously according to Scripture, and second, to do judgment/justice/mish-pawt. Mish-pawt, in Hebrew, is the proclamation of a judge. If Abraham and his children would live righteously and do judgment, the Lord would bring to Abraham what He had spoken to him. All of the Abrahamic promises were based on two primary issues, first to live according to the standard of Scripture and second to do judgment and pray a path for justice! Look at the devastation that has come to today’s church because our theologians separated Jesus the Savior from Jesus the Judge. Today’s church has been taught Jesus will only be Judge when he comes back, in the Second Coming. But that is not Scripture and never has been. The whole purpose of God getting to know Abraham was so his children would learn to live according to Scripture and they would do judgment. Doing judgment means praying the Judge will stand up in our behalf and come on the scene. It means, through prayer, to create a path for Him to enter our circumstances and be the Judge of all the Earth. When we do that, God is happy with Abraham and smiles on us for acting like His kids. The problem is, today’s church has not been acting like His kids. Paul and Barnabas knew what it took to gain God’s favor! They obeyed, and prayed judgment as the Holy Spirit led. Let us be willing to pray judgment for Kingdom purposes! Pray Psalm 12:1-5!
