Scripture: Matthew 1:1, Revelation 22:16

We are in a season where we have an increasing number of prophets prophesying devastation, destruction, America’s invasion and the full blown measure of God’s judgment on the land. Dismay and fear search for an opening but are denied entrance depending on Who Jesus is to us. The core question for every believer as we move deeper and deeper into the last days is, Who is Jesus to us? Who is He? As we answer that question, it determines whether or not we will be able to stand in the face of what is coming in the earth. Can we stand in the face of Isis? Can we stand in the face of invasion by the Russians or the Chinese? Can we stand in the face of great war as nation rises against nation? Is the church ready for the end-times? That is a question that every one of us have to answer. And the answer is not difficult – it depends on Who Jesus is to us. Who is He to us personally? The answer to that question will determine whether or not we will be ready for the most difficult season to ever come on the earth. Matthew 1:1 starts the process of Who Jesus is. Whether we believe it and act on it is individual. It is up to us – do I choose to believe what the New Testament says Jesus is to me? If so, will I act on it? Matthew 1:1 says, “The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham:…” In the first verse of the New Testament, Jesus is presented as the Son of David. From the first verse to the last chapter of Revelation, we have to ask, Who is Jesus? Wouldn’t it be interesting if, in Revelation 22, He names Himself Son of David? If that is true, then it is a major key. Revelation 22:16 says, “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.” The beginning of the New Testament and the end of the New Testament, both starts and ends with Jesus being declared the Son of David. There is a major addition in Revelation 22:16 when Jesus Himself says, “I am the Root and the Offspring of David.” That means that everything David did in obedience to the Spirit is a picture of Who Christ is in us. Everything that David prayed by the Holy Spirit is a picture of what Christ is willing to do through us. David was a mighty warrior. He killed a giant. Will Jesus kill giants when we pray? Absolutely! But do we believe it? If we do not, then we are truly not ready for what is coming. Who is Jesus to us?
