Scripture: 2 Timothy 1:6-9

2 Timothy 1:6-9 says, “Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,…” God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and of a sound mind. God gave us an eternal purpose. That eternal purpose dictates the call. The call determines the power necessary to bring the call to pass. And the power often determines the suffering. God gave us purpose when He created us before the foundations of the earth. That purpose determines our call. That call determines the power necessary to bring the call to pass. And the power necessary means it is going to be resisted and fought by the enemy and that brings obvious suffering. The enemy will inevitably war against the power it takes to bring our call to pass. We have to refuse to be discouraged by the warfare! We must refuse to give up and refuse to quit because we have gotten to know the Jesus of 2 Timothy. It is key and vital to be aware of and to understand the war that goes with the call.
