FRIDAY, DECEMBER 12
Scripture: 1 Samuel 8:19,20; Revelation 1:6

Verses 19,20 state, “Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, ‘No, but we will have a king over us, that we also may be like all the nations, and that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles.’” The kings not only had to judge, but the kings had to be willing to go to war. So when God set anyone in the office of a king, He gave them an anointing to judge and to go to war. A king who refused to judge and refused to war did not live up to the calling of his office. And that is something we need to keep in mind when we read about what Jesus made us in Revelation 1. Will we live up to the office or will we abandon the call?
