Scripture: Psalm 55:9-11

David is considering the betrayal of his best friend and those who refused to accept the fact that he repented and was restored. He said in his prayer, “Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues, For I have seen violence and strife in the city. Day and night they go around it on its walls; Iniquity and trouble are also in the midst of it. Destruction is in its midst; Oppression and deceit do not depart from its streets.” So David is praying for God to step in and destroy the enemy that has come against him, which would be Absalom and all those who had taken the city and the Throne from him. He was asking for God’s intervention and we know the story. David got God’s intervention at every level until the enemy was completely destroyed and Jerusalem was back in his hands. He did not relent in his prayers. With God’s guidance, David pressed into total and complete victory.
