WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23
Scripture: Exodus 20:1-3

Exodus 20:1-3 says, “And God spoke all these words, saying: ‘I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before Me.” It is the very first commandment that comprises the righteousness of God. And Romans 8 says if we walk in the Spirit, we will keep the law without compulsion. The Holy Spirit will lead us to honor our first love, Almighty God and obey and reverence Him above all else. He alone is to be first in our lives. If we follow the Spirit, we will always obey the leadership of the Third Person of the Trinity. In doing this we will find ourselves fulfilling the Law. We are not doing it from compulsion but out of obedient, reverential relationship. We do it out of love. That is number one – to keep the honor and fear of the Lord foremost!
