Scripture: II Chronicles 7:12-14

II Chronicles 7:14 is a very familiar verse. It says, “Then the Lord appeared to Solomon by night, and said to him: ‘I have heard your prayer, and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice. When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.’” When we have a nation that precariously hangs in the balance of destruction as America does, II Chronicles 7:14 is an awesome passage, especially when we can pray it from a platform of Sure Mercy. In Acts 13:34 the covenant of Sure Mercy is guaranteed to us by the blood of Christ. Solomon dedicated the temple that was funded by the life of King David and it was a temple of covenant mercy. That covenant mercy shows up in verse fourteen in this passage in II Chronicles, and it is the promise for all those who will humble themselves and pray. When we pray the covenant promises and line up our lives with the righteous standard of God’s Word, He will heal our land. Are we praying that? Probably there has been no other season in the history of this nation that the church needs to be praying II Chronicles 7:14 any more than the season we live in today. It is desperately needed. Let us rise to the occasion and pray it! We need it now!
