Scripture: Isaiah 55:12,13

Isaiah 55:12,13 states, “For you shall go out with joy, And be led out with peace; The mountains and the hills Shall break forth into singing before you, And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress tree, And instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree; And it shall be to the Lord for a name, For an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.” If a nation is cursed and has the judgment of God on it because of sin and rebellion there is a path of escape. In the book of Jonah, the people of Nineveh “…believed God and put on sackcloth from the least to the greatest of them…”, including Nineveh’s king. Jonah 3:10 says, “Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it.” By corporately walking out repentance and again embracing God’s covenant, we as with Ninevah can turn our nation with God’s Word and reverse the curse. But in order for the curse to be reversed, judgment needs to fall selectively on unrepentant individuals in order to cleanse it.
