TUESDAY, OCTOBER 18
Scripture: Isaiah 11:1-4, Numbers 7

Isaiah 11:1-4 says, “There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, And a Branch shall grow out of his roots. The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. His delight is in the fear of the Lord, And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, Nor decide by the hearing of His ears; But with righteousness He shall judge the poor, And decide with equity for the meek of the earth; He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, And with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked.” All through Scripture we have the prayer of individuals whose breath slays the wicked. Moses in Numbers 16, concerning Korah, Dathan and Abiram said, “Do not respect their offering. I have not taken one donkey from them, nor have I hurt one of them.” The Lord did a new thing in dealing with these individuals, the earth split and we see that Moses’ words slew the wicked. In Numbers 7, Gideon’s words slew the wicked. He was given words to say when they shattered their pitchers. When Gideon’s army of 300 broke the pitchers, they spoke and said “The sword of the Lord and of Gideon!” God brought His sword on the enemy. When we obediently and appropriately pray with the Rod of Iron, we strike a blow from which there is no recovery and dash and shatter into pieces that which will be irrecoverably carried away. When we have a platform of holiness, the breath of our lips can slay the wicked. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. Let’s use our faith to walk in this place!
