THURSDAY, AUGUST 24
Scripture: 1 Samuel 25:17

1 Samuel 25:17 says, “Now therefore, know and consider what you will do, for harm is determined against our master and against all his household. For he is such a scoundrel that one cannot speak to him.” This is the account of Abigail and her husband Nabal. He was a scoundrel and God determined to bring judgment on him but saved David from bringing unrighteous judgment. Abigail intervened, gave King David what he asked for and saved King David from avenging himself. Because of Abigail’s bravery, not only was her husband judged, but she was favored for her wisdom and at the death of her husband became a wife of King David. Our Bible is full of God judging every kind of situation imaginable. King David did not have to kill Nabal and as Christians, we do not have to hurt anyone or even decide what judgments are appropriate for them. Our job is to pray that the damage and destruction someone is causing and doing to innocents, believers or the Kingdom comes back on their own head, just like it did on Nabal. Our job is to pray and God’s job is to demonstrate He is too much for the wicked. He will do so in His timing. He did in Scripture over and over again and He will work in behalf of our obedient, righteous prayers as well.
