SUNDAY, AUGUST 5
Scripture: Proverb s 1:29-33

Proverbs 1:29-33 says, “Because they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of the Lord, They would have none of my counsel And despised my every rebuke. Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their own way, And be filled to the full with their own fancies. For the turning away of the simple will slay them, And the complacency of fools will destroy them; But whoever listens to me will dwell safely, And will be secure, without fear of evil.” What a great promise for God’s people. Because we choose the fear of the Lord, we know that there is major blessing coming our direction which includes God’s mighty Hand of protection and security. Because we choose the fear of the Lord, which truly is our choice, God’s counsel has a resting place in us. His reproof gains a hearing ear in us, but that is not so of the wicked. The turning away of the simple will slay them the complacency of fools will destroy them but because we choose the fear of the Lord we have a hearing ear and we dwell in safety and can be free of the fear of evil. What a tremendous promise for the people of God if we but choose the fear of the Lord! That is where it starts. It starts in choosing to walk in the fear of the Lord.
