FRIDAY, JANUARY 18
Scripture: Isaiah 40:3-6

Isaiah 40:3-5 is another test for the adopted. It says, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord; Make straight in the desert A highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted And every mountain and hill brought low; The crooked places shall be made straight And the rough places smooth; The glory of the Lord shall be revealed, And all flesh shall see it together; For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.’ The voice said, ‘Cry out!’ And he said, ‘What shall I cry?’ ‘All flesh is grass, And all its loveliness is like the flower of the field.’” Did David walk through tests? Did John the Baptist walk through tests? Of course they did! It is encouraging in such places to remember that God has said, ‘I will make the crooked places straight. I will make the rough places smooth and you will see the glory of the Lord to deliver you.’ Walking in the glory doesn’t mean there are no tests. It doesn’t mean we are free from adversity. It actually guarantees that we will experience challenges and resistance. It also guarantees that the adversity will bow to the Hand of God, the strength of God and the deliverance of God! Walking in the glory is not for the faint of heart. It is for the obedient, it is for the mature and it is for the patient.
