SUNDAY, JANUARY 6
Scripture: Exodus 34:5-7

In Exodus 34:5-7 God did what He promised. Moses occupied the place and the Lord descended in a cloud and stood with him there and proclaimed the name of the Lord. “And then the Lord descended in the cloud and stood with him there and proclaimed the name of the Lord. And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed, ‘The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, long suffering and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and fourth generation.’” The Lord first defined His glory. The glory brings both mercy and judgment. Mercy forgives and judgment rights wrongs! His salvation glory and His judgment glory are the same coin. That coin has two sides. It is like spendable money. There is a head and there is a tail. There are two distinct sides. Will we accept the glory as it is presented? The glory came when Miriam criticized Moses for marrying an Ethiopian woman. When the glory lifted, Miriam was leprous! Why do we present only the mercy side of glory? The mercy side of glory ushers in healings and miracles which, of course, appeals to us all. But what about the glory that ushers in judicial signs and wonders. Do we also need to consider the glory that provokes the fear of the Lord through signs and wonders? Of course we do, especially if it is our goal to walk in wisdom and maturity. Church, let’s purpose to walk circumspectly and grow up in Christ in all things! Perhaps the judicial side will push more people to salvation!
