Scripture: Matthew 12:46-50

Mary and Jesus’ brothers sought to speak to Jesus. As a disciple announced to Jesus that His family waited outside, Jesus said, “While He was still talking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers stood outside, seeking to speak with Him. Then one said to Him, ’Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak with You.’ But He answered and said to the one who told Him, ‘Who is My mother and who are My brothers?’ And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, ‘Here are My mother and My brothers! For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.’” Christ was not disowning or shunning His natural family. He was explaining a higher truth. And that truth is that doing God’s Word and obeying His voice counts big-time in our Heavenly Father’s view of true Family. Eternal Family supersedes our natural family! Both the Old and the New Testament agree on the qualifications for sons and daughters of the King. Obeying the Spirit is proof we are King’s kids and guarantees ending the age with the filling of the earth with God’s glory!
